Kawazu Nanadaru seven waterfalls in Izu peninsula

Interesting seven waterfalls located in close distance from each other in Izu peninsula. Each waterfall has its name and number.

In the middle of video, sign which says - wishing rock can be seen. After insserting 100 en in box, can make a wish and then throw three small rocks one by one to attempt landing them inside area encloded by rope. If pebble lands inside rock, it means that wish will come true. Simple, isn't it!

Access:
Pretty long way from Tokyo. First by Tokaido line from Shinagawa to Atami, then change to line to direction of Izu Shimoda. Get off at Kawazu (Kawadzu). Then bus.

Typhon No 9

This is strongest typhoon I have experienced so far. Don't ask me why it is number nine. Very strong blasting wind at times (around 20-25 m/s) with much rain. On sea level barometer suggests low pressure - about the same as in altitude of 500m, 970 hPa.

Some train lines have stopped, airplanes don't fly and usually no ferries go into sea. In such strong wind, there is no need for umbrella, except if you want to fly with it like paragliders do. Anyway, everybody tries to stay dry and inside.

It is not in evening, but just was little dark because of rain clouds.

Izu peninsula, small trip

Cycling trip to Izu peninsula in Shizuoka prefecture. Started from Numazu town and rode along the coast. It was nice small road, which plays around cliffs and goes deep into bays.

Later on road went up into mountains. Not really high mountains, but very strong and frontal wind made cycling difficult. After taking photos it was even impossible to get back on bike. When riding down the mountain I had to slow down, because wind at times were so strong that it could blow off the road. As you can see in video, I have even difficulty of holding camera.

In afternoon reached Heda - small town between mountains. After forests and mountains, I was happy to see civilization again. Heda has very nice harbor with beach facing mountains. It is shallow and protected from waves.

In evening, left Heda on the last bus to nearest train station. As the bus slowly climbed up the mountain, I lazy watched sun slowly disappearing in clouds. When reached train station, it was already night.
